Gone Fishing

I'm heading out to Canterbury Park to play some live poker today, but I'll leave you with a few Twins-related links to check out:

  • Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle on Joe Nathan, whom the Giants traded to the Twins (along with Francisco Liriano and Boof Bonser) for one mediocre season of A.J. Pierzynski.
  • La Velle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Jesse Crain, whose fastball has mysteriously disappeared. I've been planning to write something about Crain's lack of strikeouts, so his velocity being down isn't a surprise.
  • Jim Souhan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Paul DePodesta, whom Souhan refers to as a "computer geek" while repeatedly making extremely forced references to Moneyball.
  • And finally, don't forget to sign up for "Twins Blogger Night" at the Metrodome, next Tuesday. I am in the process of bugging Stick and Ball Guy about his ability to leave the house when he wants to now that he's married, in order to get him to go.
  • Today at The Hardball Times:
    - Game In Review: Seattle at Washington (by Studes)
    - Enjoy It While It Lasts (by Ben Jacobs)

    Today's Picks (54-46, +$575):
Colorado (Francis) +160 over Cleveland (Westbrook)
San Diego (Peavy) -130 over Detroit (Johnson)
San Francisco (Foppert) +260 over Minnesota (Santana)
