How is Carroll BABIP’ing in the .330s? Is he THAT fast? I just can’t see a 38 year old right handed hitter with little power continuing to do that. And I think there’s a risk that walk rate could continue to slide as pitchers realize he’s just not a threat at the plate. I don’t hate the deal if some of the other options like Barmes weren’t panning out, but 2 guaranteed years seems excessive for his age. 1 yr/$3.5M with an option and no buyout would have been the most I would have gone. I could completely see him hitting 0.250/0.310/0.300 next year, then being in the same position again next offseason, but with another year committed to Carroll.

Hope I’m wrong.

Ventura also basically gave all the power to smart people he hired….which is what a governor should do. But yes, in retrospect, it is hard to believe. A lot of people admitted to me the next morning they voted for him as a “joke”. That election is the signature call for runoff….

Never forget he was the only candidate in that election talking common sense and appearing to have any sort of fresh idea. He has definitely gone off the rails since then.
