David’s point is valid–that Capps is being used as a lightning rod for Twins fans frustration over the past year, it’s a small scale sign, and the chances that this sandwich pick amounts to much are small. I personally don’t agree with the sign when there were equivalent pitchers that could have been had without forfeiting the pick, but I’m not about to embark on a drooling rant over it.

You post routinely on this site and the overwhelming number of posts are extremely negative and usually involve personal digs you’d never use to anyone’s face. Yes, when you use terms like so-and-so “sucks balls” it is probably a sign that it’s time to evaluate where your own head it at. And you know what, if you’re gonna sling mud around and take shot and throw everyone and their mother under the bus, how about you man up and use your real name? Something tells me if actual accountability were involved (which is one reason Aaron deserves respect, because he puts his name on his work), you wouldn’t talk the way you do.

They’re overpaying, but it’s a 1 year deal with an option. If a contender gets into injury trouble in the bullpen, Capps makes an interesting, low-commitment stop-gap at the price of B prospect. Said B prospect has a lot less variance of contributing to a major league team than a draft pick. I’d still prefer a draft pick, but this reaction is way overblown.

Grow up and get in touch with your hearts and souls, folks. Baseball is a game that does not define your self-worth, and Matt Capps is a human being.

Again, why not have a trading chip at said deadline to sell off as a rental to get a prospect much further along than the 60th pick in the draft could realistically be?
