I had forgotten just how good Chuck Knoblauch was. That 1996 season was ridiculous - his WAR was 8.4, which is better than Kirby Puckett ever did.

As much as I wanted the Twins to have Escobar, I don't want him on the team after this eye black thing. I don't want to root for an a-hole.

I think the Twins' best plan for shortstop is to build a time machine, go back in time to the offseason before 2011 and stop from trading JJ Hardy.

How about the Twins get Yunel Escobar to play Shortstop when the Blue Jays decide to non-tender him? He can play decent short, has a cannon arm and can even get on base a bit.

it seems that many, if not most, pitchers have arm problems during their careers. so doesn't it make some sense to acquire quantity (and hope that quality surfaces)? the twins front office should continue acquiring pitchers via: 1)minor-league free-agent signings, 2)the waiver wire, 3)signing non-tendered and/or released pitchers, 4)the rule 5 draft, 5)the international market, and 6)the june draft. much of this could be done cheaply, and without the risks involved with signing higher-priced major league free-agents.

Good for Neshek. He is probably too expensive arbitration-wise for the A's to resign, so look at him to sign somewhere as a free agent.

You look at Florimon, Escobar, Casilla, Dozier and Carroll and you have five guys who are pretty much the same player. You can start one of them, another can be a backup, but the Twins need to find someone totally different than the mold that those five come from to play either second or short, not to mention the questions Plouffe raises at third.

Big Whoop on Cedar Rapids being "closer". It's 260+ miles away, vs. 320 for Beloit. At least with Beloit, you've Milwaukee and Chicago a stone's throw away. Cedar Rapids---to be honest, I have no idea what there is to do down there (besides watch baseball). That said, I'll probably make the journey down (once) to check it out, whereas Beloit was an annual stop on the Mil/Chi roadtrip.

you touched on the players that the Twins handling bother me the most: Burnett, Gray, Blackburn, Nishi, Slama. I'd throw Mauer in ther too in that, how they handled him last year, has a lot to do with his villified perception
