He has said that they’re trying to get pitchers who throw hard and strike people out, but he also said that they’re not easy to get. His solution so far this year has been to draft these kinds of pitchers and trade for some who are aren’t major league ready yet. You, yourself, said that you wouldn’t throw lots of money or years at a free agent pitcher. It seems like Ryan agrees with you, but that’s what it takes to get the pitchers you’re talking about.

Decent free agent pitchers are not only going to get paid, they also get to choose where they end up. That’s just a reality the Twins are going to have to deal with until they turn things around. And I think their strategy of turning things around through the farm system is the right path.

I’m sure you at least generally agree with some of what I said, but in the podcast you make it sound as if the Twins have their choice of free agents and Correia was at the top of the list.
