Agreed. (Santana, Bartlett, Garza, Ramos, Hardy, Delmon long after his value peaked). Wasting Slama at AAA.

But, he signed Sano, Thome, and Crede, and gave up little to acquire Pavano, and Fuentes. Overall, he was a slightly below average GM. His focus, perhaps short-sighted, was providing a great entertainment product for the team’s first year at Target Field (2010). Thome’s late-inning homer off Thornton and the Sox on an August, 2010 night at Target was the most memorable Twins moment since the ’91 World Series (yep, even better than Game 163 in ’09).

I was hoping to hear Lawrence Welker and Elvis Presley, the haul from the Morneau trade, perform together during a seventh inning stretch next summer. Maybe a medley of songs, including “Love Me Tender,” with background vocals from the Lennon Sisters. Add some Myron Floren accordion riffs or his long version of “Lady of Spain.”
