Comments on: Gleeman and The Geek #133: Pitchers and Catchers Report Baseball news, insight and analysis from Aaron Gleeman Wed, 23 Jul 2014 15:50:52 +0000 hourly 1 By: Scott Tue, 18 Feb 2014 21:00:00 +0000 RE: John’s comments on the Wolves

“The whole atmosphere was kind’ve terrible. The place wasn’t very full. … No enthusiasm. No excitement. It made me wonder if the Wolves are going to make it. There’s nothing going on with this franchise right now.”

1. The Wolves are averaging 14,931 fans per game (77.1% of capacity). The Twins last year averaged 30,588 fans per game in 2013 (77.4% of capacity).

2. Last season the Wolves finished with a record of 31-51 which was the best record ever for a Twolves team without KG. The current team is going to eclipse that ignominious mark in mid-March. This is arguably the best Wolves roster ever built and they’re a ton of fun to watch when healthy.

3. Glen Taylor recently bought out minority owners who didn’t want the team to stay in Minnesota. He refused to sell the team to Chris Hansen’s Seattle ownership group last season. Glen Taylor and the city of Minneapolis agreed to split the cost of a $97 million Target Center renovation for this offseason. There are new Wolves and Lynx practice facilities being built into the new Block E.

The Target Center is a dump and the Wolves have screwed up their ticket prices so it doesn’t surprise me that people didn’t brave a cold, winter night to see a star-less Denver Nuggets. But the Wolves aren’t going to move out of town anytime soon. They’re going to “make it.”

The Twins on the other hand? We’ll see.

By: James Mon, 17 Feb 2014 03:54:00 +0000 The podcast sucks when you’re not talking Twins. Which ends up being at least half the show.
