He’s split time between 2b and SS the prior two seasons, but it looks like the Twins have settled on his defensive skills being more suitable at second than a short.

His strikeouts aren’t terrible, and he seems to know the strike zone at that level. My guess is that he’s just been unable to hit the ball with authority.

Going into this year, he slipped off most analysts’ top prospect reports. He may get back on if he can hit at AA this year.

His offense looks to be someone near the median of what major league shortstops are expected to produce, but if he slumps what does he offer to offset the loss in defense?
They are doing what is probably the most logical direction: play the hot hand.
