Link-O-Rama

• Well, well, well. Now the Twins storing everything on floppy disks doesn't look so dumb, does it?

• Friend of AG.com Matt Hollinger got literally stuck in a Taco Bell drive-through in Iowa.

• One of my favorite writers, Greg Howard, wrote a really good look at Ken Shamrock's sad final act vs. Kimbo Slice.

• Former football star Lawrence Phillips' letters from maximum-security prison are very sad.

Joe Mauer used to be very good and now he's very bad. What happened?

• It turns out that "Mad Max: Fury Road" was a love story, at least for the stunt doubles.

• On this week's "Gleeman and The Geek" episode we basically talked about Byron Buxton for 90 consecutive minutes.

• These quotes from NBA scouts about Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Jahlil Okafor vs. D'Angelo Russell are really interesting and a must-read for Timberwolves fans.

• This pre-draft workout video of Towns, a 6-foot-11 shot-blocking center, shooting three-pointers is enough to make me start smoking cigarettes again:

I'm fully on the Towns bandwagon and might be less disappointed with Russell than Okafor.

• It's fun having a great closer who's also into analytics.

• I was on KFAN chatting with Paul Allen for a half-hour and we covered some interesting stuff.

• What percentage of Americans use their phone while in the bathroom at work? Pablo Sandoval got punished for it.

• I'm once again featured in The Onion.

• Old friend Kevin Slowey retired and took a job with the MLB Players Association.

When will the Twins call up Miguel Sano to join Buxton in Minnesota?

• It cost $21 million to build "The Walkway" apartments on Lake Street and the developer just sold it for $54 million.

• My friend who fosters dogs has a new guy looking for a home via Secondhand Hounds. His name is Wayne, he's four years old, and he looks like this:

Wayne dog

She says: "Wayne is the most laid back dog I think I've ever met. He likes to cuddle, give kisses, rub his giant body up against you to get petted, and will do anything for a treat. For more info on how you can give Wayne a good, permanent home, click here.

Miguel will be at First Avenue in August. You can bet that, never gotta sweat that I'll be there.

Jon Marthaler, who's one-fourth of "The Sportive" podcast and Minnesota's nicest sports writer, is now writing a weekly soccer column for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

• As a child of the 1990s who grew up listening to hip-hop music Hot 102.5 is a very welcomed addition to the Twin Cities radio scene.

• According to Baseball America the Twins are expected to sign 16-year-old Dominican shortstop Wander Javier for around $4 million.

• I hope another local media outlet hires Tyler Mason, who has consistently produced good Twins and Gophers content for FSN's website and is now being let go through no fault of his own.

• Finally, this week's AG.com-approved music video is "Sure Thing" by Miguel:

Listen to me on “The Sportive” podcast

the sportive logo

Last night, during the first round of the NFL draft and the Twins-White game, I was a guest on "The Sportive" podcast with Jon Marthaler, Randball's Stu, Brandon Broxey, and Clarence Swamptown. We reacted live to the Vikings' first-round pick, previewed the Wild-Blackhawks series, and determined once and for all if Ted Thompson is a Sagittarius. I think you'll like it.

Power Rankings: Top 30 Twin Cities Tweeters Of 2014

twitter follow me

I guess this is an annual thing now. Last year, in response to Maggie LaMaack ranking the "Top 20 Twin Cities Twitterers" for a City Pages article, I did my own ranking. Sure, it was controversial and ruined many friendships, but it also got people to step up their Twitter game. And that's all we should care about in this world, really. Anyway, below you'll find my updated rankings for 2014 in which I continue to say "Tweeters" instead of "Twitterers" and have expanded the list to 30.

(Note: @BJFait has been ruled ineligible for this list because her cat lives with me, but she is very funny on Twitter and also has very pretty eyes in real life. Everyone should follow her.)

Floyd Twitter1. @floyding (Zach Floyd)

Most underrated tweeter in Minnesota. Husband, father, friend of Ted Nugent. Lots of Louis C.K.-style parenting observations, but with visuals of the monsters.

Nora Purmort Twitter2. @noraborealis (Nora Purmort)

Wrote bravely, beautifully, and humorously about husband Aaron Purmort's battle with cancer and death. Mother of the world's cutest Instagram star, Ralphie.

Twitter-shaking switch from pseudonym to real name didn't cost any comedy. Runner of the Infinite Guest podcast network. Twinkie Town blogger. Packers fan troller.

Deserves a much bigger Twitter following. Extremely funny, but also regularly writes poignant longer-form stuff. Questionable taste in boyfriends.

Co-host of The Sportive podcast. Rarely comes out of hiding, never reveals his real identity. Hater of tacos. Lover of firing everyone. Payroll whiner.

The sun around which Minnesota's weird sports Twitter world revolves. Star Tribune digital sports editor and blogger. Elite baby/dog combo. Never played the game.

Publicist, writer, LOLOMG blog editor. Having more fun than her face suggests. Tinder savant. Upper Midwest mini corn dog-eating champion. Taylor Swift of Uptown.

Link-O-Rama

• Link-O-Rama favorite Dayn Perry went in search of Paul Molitor at his most handsome and what he found changed his life forever.

• I may never forgive myself for missing Sid Hartman's estate sale.

• I saw "Inside Llewyn Davis" and liked it enough to re-rank my favorite Coen Brothers movies.

• On a related note: Twitter is amazing and I'm horrible.

• In addition to being a great stand-up comedian Kyle Kinane spits truth about beards.

• I took a "what city should you actually live in?" quiz on Buzzfeed and got London, but honestly that's probably a little too far from Stella's.

• I was a "Baseball Stars" kid, but this is still fun news for anyone who grew up in the 1990s.

Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, and Jason Alexander got the band back together.

• On this week's "Gleeman and The Geek" episode we talked about the Twins' spring training invite list, planned my upcoming move to New Zealand, and witnessed a first date in progress.

• It turns out that Robert Downey Jr. can really sing:

(Or at least can really sing kind of like Sting.)

Chris Brown of Grantland wrote a really good, in-depth article about how Pete Carroll and the Seahawks built the best defense in football.

• It's obvious from his eyes that the Cubs' new mascot has seen a lot of pain.

• I would watch CNN more if this was a regular thing for Randi Kaye.

Eric Decker has really come a long way since his days at the University of Minnesota.

• There's a new "concept store" opening in Hopkins "seeking individuals with existing knowledge of craft beer and/or whiskey." I'm happy to have a fallback plan in case NBCSports.com fires me.

• One of the most rewarding aspects of writing a super-personal birthday post about my life was hearing from people who've struggled with similar issues, including this well-written version.

• Who wore it better: Yours Truly or Bill Murray?

• Yeah, but still.

• As an egg-thrower from way back, Justin Bieber's current situation amuses me.

• Old friend Delmon Young signed a minor-league deal with Baltimore, where he could replace old friend Danny Valencia as the Orioles' platoon designated hitter versus left-handers.

• How did Possum Plows follow up her life-changing video from last week?

I like it. You know, for a song that isn't dedicated to me.

• I was pleased to see Bruce Springsteen give a nice shoutout to Jason Isbell.

Jeff Dubay was fired by 1500-ESPN in what the station called a cost-cutting move.

• Sisyphus Brewing is opening a taproom that features comedy and podcasting. Not a bad idea.

• Your weekly reminder that Aubrey Plaza is perfect.

• I really enjoyed the first episode of "True Detective" on HBO and you know there's some serious acting involved when these two can convincingly play police detectives.

• One of my favorite comedians, Morgan Murphy, has a new stand-up special on Netflix.

• Congrats to friend of AG.com Jon Marthaler for getting engaged to a lovely woman with iffy standards. I believe this means he owes $100,000 to John Bonnes now. Is that how it works?

• Some of this week's weird and random search engine queries that brought people here:

- "Clarence Clemons wanted to date Robin Quivers"
- "Nigella Lawson lookalike porn."
- "Son loses 150 pounds without telling family"
- "Lost weight using Lean Cuisines"
- "Chelsea players carrying brooms"
- "Drew Butera girlfriend"
- "Kate Mara with Boston Terriers"
- "Are the Coen brothers Jewish?"
- "Who has a crush on Aaron Gleeman?"

• Finally, this week's AG.com-approved music video is Cory Chisel and Adriel Danae singing a live cover version of "Rosie" by Tom Waits:

Power Rankings: Top 30 Twin Cities Tweeters Of 2013

twitter follow me

City Pages ran an article by Maggie LaMaack ranking the "Top 20 Twin Cities Twitterers" among non-mainstream media and non-celebrities. She did a very nice job on the piece, which included artsy caricatures of each person and lots of fun quotes, but my Twitter obsession won't let me go on living without posting my own ranking. Mine is slightly different in that I refuse to use the word "Twitterers" and anyone is eligible, but it's the same basic idea. Oh, and I chose 30 instead of 20.

nelson twitter10. @nnelson9 (Nick Nelson from Twins Daily)

By far the funniest member of her family. Fell asleep within two minutes of meeting me.

Hardest-working man in Twin Cities sports media. Really good. Not on "The Office."
