No-Hit #2?
For those of you with WGN (or MLB.TV or MLB Extra Innings), turn to the Phillies/Cubs game immediately. Eric Milton has a no-hitter through seven innings.
Twins fans may remember that Milton threw a no-no against the Angels back in September of 1999. He needs six more outs for no-hitter #2, and he'll be facing Chicago's #4-9 hitters (no Sosa).
Go. Now.
UPDATE: Moises Alou gets ahead 3-0 and then pops up to Thome in foul ground on a 3-2 pitch. Five to go.
UPDATE: Derrek Lee launches a long fly ball foul down the left field line, fouls the 0-1 pitch straight back, and then takes a questionable pitch for strike three. Four to go.
UPDATE: Aramis Ramirez pops up the 2-1 pitch to Chase Utley in short right field. Three to go, with the bottom of the order due up.
UPDATE: Michael Barrett bloops a single in front of a diving Doug Glanville to break up the no-hitter. Glanville broke back on the ball, changed direction, stumbled a bit, and then came about a foot short with his head-first dive. Glanville was in as a defensive replacement for Ricky Ledee.
UPDATE: Mark Grudzielanek singles up the middle and then Corey Patterson doubles off the base of the wall in left-center, just past the outstretched glove of Glanville. Barrett and Grudzielanek both score, tying the game at two. Larry Bowa takes Milton out of the game with the go-ahead run in scoring position.
UPDATE: Jim Thome walks, Doug Glanville bunts him to second, and Pat Burrell drives him in with a gapper to right-center. Game over, 3-2 Phillies.
