  1. I think the type of beer you drink can affect the way you feel after a night of drinking. I’m specifically talking about Unfiltered & Unpasteurized versus Pasteurized.

“Big Beer” pasteurizes beers after bottling to prevent microbes from causing “off” flavors. They also filter their beer to remove yeast and protein that causes the beer to cloud at lower temps.

Smaller breweries, the New Belgian’s and Summit’s of the world, do not typically pasteurize. Unpasteurized “live” beers are nutritionally superior to pasteurized beers. Filtering the yeast removes most of the B vitamins and other nutrients like chromium. There is some evidence that these vitamins and nutrients fight-off hangovers.

What were you drinking last week? Nordeast is not a “live” beer. I think Sam Adams is, but I could be wrong…..

  2. found this

    Samuel Adams Brewing Company:

All Samuel Adams beers in kegs are unpasteurized but the Samuel Adams bottled beers are pasteurized. Any of Sam Adams wheat beers are going to be unfiltered but the rest are filtered.

  4. A couple of discussion points for future broadcasts:

top 40 all time Twins List. You can even include a top 40 favorite beer for added fun This way you can finish the list. You can even make it a holiday / new years specail countdown…

over / under of Blackburn reaching 70 career wins. I think you had a bet on this previously.

Potential bullpen arms…also in that discussion what about a possible trade for Guerrier to come back. Slowey would be a good trade candidate there (no rumors just thinking out loud). Dotel is a mid reliever I think would do well here.

Who would you rather see the Twins claim off of waivers to be fungible players instead of the ones they just received.

Your ideal bench/ bullpen how would you construct it and with who. rh/ lh hitters, speed, defense, power, contact / veteran /rookie or Punto. What features do you want to highlight the most and why? You get 11 players, 5 bench and 6 bullpen or 4 and 7. cuss and discuss. Also who would be the best 26th player for the team? and why?

depth is needed so who is the 1, 2nd and 3rd option at each position?

6,7,8, and 9th starting pitchers who are they and where will they pitch to start the season.

That should keep you busy for a while let me know if you need more ideas.

  5. Two drinking game rules:

    1. Drink every time John fails to appreciate the irrelevance of data gained from a small sample size

    2. Drink every time Aaron makes a blanket statement about the availability of replacement-level talent while omitting (or refusing to give) any mention of specific players or the actual current free agent market.

    Enjoy!

  6. I’d also suggest a drinking every time John doesn’t talk into the microphone but I’d be hammered in the first 2 minutes. If you’ve got two channels, raise John’s or lower Aaron’s. If you have one mic, move it away from Aaron and toward John, since he insists on not talking into it.
As far as hangovers go, it’s all about alcohol and dehydration. About the only thing you can do is drink at least as much water as you do beer. I’d guess the weight loss is the primary factor in increased hangover susceptibility. But it really doesn’t matter what alcoholic beverage you drink.

  7. I’ve just caught onto you guys (and the TwinsCentric gang) this year, and as far as Twins content, I’m not concerned that the Strib is now charging as your Twins reports are far more interesting and in depth.

One thing that I’ve noted has come up in the podcasts a few times is Target Field and hitting. It seems especially relevant this season because of all the twins needs and that they should consider the ballpark in their approach to free agents. You guys have talked about it, but I’d love to hear more thoughts about it in depth. Mostly so far the discussion

Parker Hageman had a really good analysis over at Over the Baggy that might be worth looking at and then incorporating into your podcasts, especially in the slow off season…

    Thanks.
