“Gleeman and The Geek” #1: Thome and Delmon

After threatening to do it for years I've finally taken the leap and started a podcast, along with John Bonnes. We're calling it "Gleeman and The Geek" and we taped the first episode Monday night while drinking beer at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park.

Topics for the first show include the Delmon Young trade, Jim Thome hitting his 600th homer, Danny Valencia's future, Francisco Liriano's disappointing season, and what the outfield may look like in 2012. And tons of other stuff. Keeping in mind that it was our first try at podcasting, we have no idea what we're doing, and we drank three pitchers of beer during the recording, I actually think it turned out pretty well. Please give it a listen and let us know what you think.

Gleeman and The Geek: Episode 1

UPDATE: The show is now available on iTunes.

This week's content is sponsored by the Minnesota law firm Snyder Gislason Frasier LLC, so please help support AG.com by considering them for your legal needs.

  1. Loved the podcast. I’d ask you to record more but I don’t know if your livers could take it. Also, I’m not sure if your podcast will ever be as good as that “Gleeman hates the Twins” podcast that you posted about a few years ago.

  2. I have been waiting for this for quite some time. The liver is quite durable. Keep up the good work.

  3. Per your sign-off request, I’m letting you know I really enjoyed the podcast. And, you two are pretty much obligated now to do another one, if only to address the 1) Slowey debacle (better keep him!); 2) off-season minors management moves; and 3) the debacle that is the Bill Smith Term as GM.
    Thanks.

  4. I thought the podcast consisted of a radio-quality exchange with the insight we’ve become accustomed to both here and at Twins Geek’s blog. I’m certainly going to listen to the next one.

  11. I’ll listen when I get home tonight. This has the potential to be really great because you both take different approaches towards advanced data and tend to come out with differing opinions. Without even listening to it, please make this a regular thing.

  13. I enjoyed it. Keep it clean, please, so I can enjoy it and share it with a clean conscience. I really enjoy your insights. And you’re entertaining.

  14. This is exactly what every Twins fan (and Twins writer) needs to be listening to. As long as you can hear it over TG’s giggling like a little girl. jk

  16. Like it a lot. Been reading you both since the early aughts, so listening’s a little like running into a couple of casual old pals. Thanks.

  24. So the name “The Two Gleemans” was already taken? Sorry man, had to do it.

    Good work fellas.

I sure hope Stohs is right about Benson. Maybe I’ll spend more time watchin the Twins than at milb.com if they put something interesting out there. I haven’t heard whether or not Aaron thinks he’s ready.

  25. Hopefully Kubel’s family is alright. Was his wife pregnant or anything? It’s usually something pretty damn serious when one of these guys has to leave the team and unless it’s a birth it’s never a good thing. Best wishes Jason.

  26. So the name “The Two Gleemans” was already taken?” THIS

Isn’t “Gleeman and the Geek” highly redundant?

  27. Thanks for this, and please do more. I have end-of-summer projects that are a lot more tolerable when I’m listening to you guys chat about Twins topics.

  28. Anything that makes me feel less guilty about binge drinking while watching the Twins is a winner in my book!

Seriously, keep drinki–podcasting. Thanks a lot, guys.
    GO TWINS!
